Meetings

The Southwest Woodcarvers Association meets on the second Saturday of each month.  The December meeting is replaced with our holiday party.  Details of the party are announced at the October and November meetings.

Meetings are at the Voyager RV Resort which is located just South of I-10 on Kolb Road.  Click HERE for a map to the Voyager.  Voyager is a gated community, so go to the second gate and check in with the security guard on duty.  Just tell the guard that you are there for the woodcarvers meeting.  Our meetings are normally held in the Catalina Room.  Due to scheduling difficulties we are occassionally switched to a different room.  If this is the case, the security guard will let you know.

Meetings are officially held from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm although some members arrive around 8:30.  The time from 9:00 to 11:30 is devoted to carving and socializing.  At 11:30 a hot lunch is served (cost is $6.00).  After lunch there is a short meeting.  Our Executive Board takes care of most of the business of the Association, so there is very little actual business conducted at the meetings.  At each meeting there is a 'Show and Tell' session to allow our members to showcase some of their recent work.  We also have a raffle and a 50/50 drawing as fund raisers for the Association.

The Voyager has a restaurant available which serves very good food at reasonable prices.   Some members arrive early and have breakfast in the restaurant before the meeting.
